Multi-Story Wood Building Designs Done Right!
Continuous tie-rod systems are becoming increasingly common in multi-story wood buildings, but they’ve traditionally been designed outside of the structural model through delegated design.
With this release, LAVA becomes the first wood design software to integrate continuous tie-rod system design directly into the structural model.
Using manufacturer data from Simpson Strong-Tie, Earthbound, MiTek, and AutoTight, LAVA automatically determines the required restraint forces and selects the appropriate rods, couplers, bearing plates, and shrinkage compensation devices as part of your analysis.
The manufacturer still provides the final delegated design package. The difference is that your structural model is now more complete, allowing wall deflection calculations to better reflect the behavior of the finished building.
